5 Tips to Make Your Kids E-Bike Battery Last Longer
By GoBike Tech Support on 2025-11-01

The battery is the heart of your GoBike. Lithium-ion batteries are powerful, but they need a little love to keep performing at their best.
Follow these 5 simple rules to save money and extend your ride time.
1. Don't Drain it Completely
Avoid running the bike until it stops moving completely. Deep discharges can hurt lithium cells. Try to recharge when it feels like the power is dropping (around 20%).
2. The "Cool Down" Rule
Never charge a hot battery immediately after a ride.
- Ride → Wait 30 mins → Charge. Charging a hot battery degrades its life significantly.
3. Storage Matters
If you aren't using the bike for a few weeks (like in winter), don't leave the battery empty or 100% full.
- Store it at around 50-60% charge.
- Keep it in a cool, dry place (not in a hot shed).
4. Keep it Dry
While GoBikes are water-resistant, they are not submarines! Avoid riding through deep puddles that submerge the motor or battery compartment. Wipe the bike down with a damp cloth instead of using a high-pressure hose.
5. Regular Use is Good Use
Batteries love to be used. A bike that sits in the garage for a year is more likely to have battery issues than one ridden every weekend.
